Biography

Tipok Phinitsakul, a native of Thailand, is a distinguished flutist, educator, and Yamaha Artist celebrated for his contributions to music education and performance. Recognized as one of the leading flute teachers in the country, Tipok has guided many students to success in prestigious competitions at both national and international levels, as well as to top distinctions in the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) exams.

Both academically accomplished and artistically gifted, Tipok earned first-class honors in flute performance from the College of Music, Mahidol University, followed by a scholarship to pursue an Artist Diploma at Penn State University in the United States. Building on this foundation, he completed a Master of Fine Arts at Chulalongkorn University and is currently working toward a doctoral degree in Western music at Chulalongkorn, blending academic research with active performance.

Throughout his career, Tipok has received significant recognition for his artistry. He earned 3rd runner-up at the 2nd Singapore Flute Festival in 2011 and was a finalist in the Penn State Philharmonic Concerto Competition in 2015. That same year, he was invited to perform at the 43rd Annual National Flute Association Convention in Washington, D.C. In 2017, he won the Gold Prize in the ensemble division and was a finalist in the ensemble award division at the 18th Japan Flute Convention in Kawasaki, Japan.

Tipok has refined his craft through master classes with many of the world’s leading flutists, including William Bennett, Carol Wincenc, Emmanuel Pahud, Julien Beaudiment, Jim Walker, Marianne Gedigian, Lorna McGhee, Paul Edmund-Davies, Bonita Boyd, Tara Helen O’Connor, and Gianni Biocotino. These experiences have profoundly shaped his musical perspective and teaching philosophy, allowing him to seamlessly blend Western classical traditions with Thailand’s rich musical heritage.

Currently, Tipok is a faculty member at Shrewsbury International School Bangkok, where he cultivates the next generation of flutists. His students have consistently distinguished themselves on both national and international stages. Beyond teaching, Tipok co-directs the Thailand Flute Festival, a biennial event that draws flutists and educators from around the world to foster artistic growth and collaboration.

As a Yamaha Artist, Tipok Phinitsakul exemplifies the perfect harmony between performance, education, and mentorship. His passion for advancing flute education and inspiring young musicians ensures that his influence will continue to resonate in the music community, both in Thailand and internationally.
