Biography

Rêver Saxophone Quartet is an accomplished ensemble from Thailand, established in 2022. The founding members: Nonthapat Chaiviratnukul, Thitipol Piseskul, Pattranant Pliensakul, and Puttinun Thanyasirin- are known for their high level of artistry and musical interpretation.

In 2023, they won 1st prize in the 10th edition of the Princess Galyani Vadhana International Ensemble Competition, a prestigious event in Thailand. The quartet has a strong background in classical and contemporary music, performing a diverse repertoire across various genres and eras. They are active in performance and competition circuits, representing Thai talent and contributing to Thailand's international classical music stage presence. Since its inception, the Rêver Saxophone Quartet has received support from Yamaha Band & Orchestra, Team Thailand.

Thitipol Piseskul

Thitipol Piseskul

Thitipol Piseskul was born in 1997, Bangkok, Thailand. His passion of music started at Music Campus for General Public, College of Music, Mahidol University, under the musical coaching of Promwut Sudtakoo. At the age of 14, he got admitted in pre-college program at College of Music, Mahidol University where he studied classical saxophone with Prof.Shyen Lee and Wisuwat Pruksavanich.

He had several masterclasses with Jean-Marie Londeix, Dr.Scott Turpen, Dr.Chiu Huan Wu, Masato Kumoi, Kenneth Tse, Kyle Horch, Hans de Jong, Claude Delangle, Jean-Denis Michat, Timothy Mcallister and Nobuya Sugawa.

As an aspiring young saxophonist, in 2014, his quartet “Fire-Yen Saxophone Quartet” was awarded the top prize (2nd prize) and Takatsuki Mayer Award in the Grand Final by 15th Osaka International Music Competition in Section II, Ensemble Category.

In 2016, after he moved to the Netherlands, his other quartet “Lagom Saxophone Quartet” was awarded 1st prize by WMC Kerkrade music competition and a year later, was awarded 1st prize by Princess Christina competition (Local).

In 2019, he graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Classical Saxophone Performance) from Conservatorium van Amsterdam and graduated with a Master of Music (Classical Saxophone Performance) with “Carnatic rhythm’s profile” from Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2021, both under the coaching of a world-class artist and educator, Arno Bornkamp (on saxophone) and Rafael Reina Camara (on Carnatic rhythm).

Thitipol is now a Doctoral student in Classical Saxophone Performance (Doctor of Music) at College of Music, Mahidol University and is currently a part-time saxophone instructor at College of Music, Mahidol University (Salaya Campus).

Nonthapat Chaiviratnukul

Nonthapat Chaiviratnukul

Nonthapat Chaiviratnukul was born 2002, Bangkok, Thailand. He began his musical journey at the age of 15. He initially studied at the Music Campus for General Public, College of Music, Mahidol University under the guidance of Ms. Pulaporn Sreewichain. In 2017, he joined the pre-college program in Classical Saxophone at Mahidol University, where he was mentored by Prof. Shyen Lee and Mr. Wisuwat Pruksavanich. During his final year of high school, he further refined his skills with private lessons from Mr. Promwut Sudtakoo at the Marcel Saxophone Studio Bangkok.

He also participated and performed in several music festivals and concerts such as the World Saxophone Congress 2018 (Croatia), Osaka Music Competition in 2018 (Japan), Hong Kong Saxophone Symposium 2018 (Hong Kong), Bad Homburg International Saxophone Masterclass 2019 (Germany), 2nd Asia Saxophone Congress 2019 (China), Asia Pacific Saxophone Academy 2023 (Thailand), Thailand International Composition Festival 2023 (Thailand), Liceu Saxophone Festival 2024 (Spain), Hommage à Daniel Deffayet (France), Festival Nevel (Netherlands), SAX20, SAX23, SAX24 Amsterdam Saxophone Festival (Netherlands).

Nonthapat has had the privilege of learning from world-renowned saxophonists through masterclasses with Nobuya Sugawa, Kenneth Tse, Arno Bornkamp, Claude Delangle, Philippe Geiss, Federico Mondelci and Nicolas Arsenijevic.

His commitment to the instrument has earned him several prestigious awards, including 2nd prize at the Asia Pacific Saxophone Solo Competition (Thailand), 2nd prize at the Settrade Music Competition 2018 (Thailand), 1st prize at the Settrade Music Competition 2019 (Thailand), and 1st prize in Chamber Music at the Princess Galyani Vadhana Music Competition with the Rêver Saxophone Quartet (Thailand).

Since 2020, Nonthapat has been living in the Netherlands, where he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Classical Saxophone Performance with a “9.5” for his final exam at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2024. During his studies in Amsterdam, Nonthapat has an opportunities to perform in many important venues in the Netherlands such as Het Concertgebouw(Amsterdam), Muziekgebouw(Amsterdam), Vondelkerk(Amsterdam), Grotekerk(Naarden), Muziekgebouw(Eindhoven).

Nonthapat is currently pursuing his Master’s degree with Karnatic’s profile at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, studying under the esteemed Dutch saxophonists Arno Bornkamp and Willem van Merwijk.

Pattranant Pliensakul

Pattranant Pliensakul

Pattranant Pliensakul, a native of Bangkok, Thailand, commenced his musical journey at four under the tutelage of Assistant Professor Dr. Ni-on Tayrattanachai.

In 2016, Pattranant achieved a Grade 8 in piano through the ABRSM examination, laying a strong foundation for his subsequent saxophone exploration. He received mentorship from Luckachai Krichnoi and Promwut Sudtakoo.

From 2016 to 2018, Pattranant held a full scholarship to Mahidol University’s prestigious Young Artist Music Program, where he studied with Prof. Shyen Lee, Dr. Wisuwat Pruksavanich, Dr. Supat Hanpatanachai, and Methawut Pimphapatang.

He actively participated in several music festivals, including SET Youth Music Competition in 2014 and 2017 (Thailand), Osaka International Music Competition in 2016 and 2017 (Japan), Hong Kong International Saxophone Symposium in 2016 and 2018 (Hong Kong), The 1st Asia Saxophone Congress (Taiwan), Zurich International Saxfest in 2017 (Switzerland), Thailand International Wind Symphony Competition 2018 (Thailand), World Saxophone Congress in 2018 (Croatia), Schaffhauser Kantonalmusikfest 2023 (Switzerland).

His exceptional talent has earned him numerous accolades, including a Gold medal in the 17th SET Youth Music Competition and international scholarships from the Osaka International Music Competition.

As a member of the Rêver Saxophone Quartet, Pattranant and the ensemble achieved first prize at the 10th edition of the Princess Galyani Vadhana International Ensemble Competition in 2023. Since then, he has actively performed with the quartet, contributing to its dynamic and acclaimed performances.

He has collaborated with numerous conductors, such as Yasuhide Ito, François Benda, and Mike Svoboda, have enriched his performance experience, including appearances with the Feroci Philharmonic Winds, Young Artist Wind Ensemble, MCGP Youth Wind Ensemble and Blasorchester-Windspiel.

His dedication to contemporary music has led to collaborations with renowned composers and a performance at the 100 Jahre Donaueschinger Musiktage in 2021.

His remarkable journey exemplifies versatility and unwavering commitment, effortlessly bridging the worlds of classical and contemporary music with a visionary approach.

Currently, Pattranant is pursuing his Master’s degree in saxophone performance with a minor in contemporary music at Hochschule für Musik Basel, FHNW, where he studies under esteemed professors Marcus Weiss, Philippe Koerper, Alejandro Oliván López, Yaron Deutsch, Mike Svoboda and Sarah Maria Sun.

Puttinun Thanyasirin

Puttinun Thanyasirin

Puttinun Thanyasirin is an exceptional classical saxophonist, whose talent and dedication have taken him to some of the most prestigious music institutions in the world.

He began his advanced studies at the renowned New England Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts, where he was mentored by the esteemed Kenneth Radnofsky.

His pursuit of excellence led him to The Royal Conservatory of Brussels, Belgium, where he graduated under the guidance of the internationally acclaimed Simon Diricq.

Puttinun's commitment to his craft is further highlighted by his participation in elite summer camps and masterclasses at Interlochen Arts Camp and Institute in Michigan, as well as the Indiana University Saxophone Institute. There, he received intensive instruction from some of the world’s leading saxophonists, including Timothy McAllister, Otis Murphy, and the PRISM Quartet.

His hard work and passion have earned him top honours, including 1st prize in the Chamber Music category at the 2023 Princess Galyani Vadhana International Ensemble Competition with the Rêver Saxophone Quartet, where he is the baritone saxophonist. He also won 1st prize in the 2021 competition with the K.O. Duo.
