PA Donation Helps Bring Courageous Voices to Schools in York Region
Woodbridge, Ontario, Canada – On September 20th, 2013, Yamaha Canada Music Ltd.’s Corporate Vice President, Rob Barg attended a YouthSpeak assembly at St. Jean De Brebeuf CHS to accept a certificate of appreciation for the donation of a professional PA System.
YouthSpeak is a unique performance-based charity that organizes school assemblies and workshops to provide a forum to experience the personal stories of youth resilience and courage. These youth speakers, who’ve faced challenges with bullying, mental health, addiction and body image, courageously share their stories with others to inspire a strong message of respect, hope, tolerance and positive change.
In the words of one of the youth speakers:
“Imagining myself in front of a group telling them about my experiences was unimaginable as I thought, ‘How could I possibly inspire anyone?’ But while watching a presentation I could’ve heard a pin drop. Since then, YouthSpeak has opened many doors to me including meeting other courageous people. I feel like me sharing my story allows others to feel like they too deserve to be heard.”
In keeping with their commitment to youth programs across Canada, Yamaha was proud to donate a PA system capable of covering a large assembly of up to 1000 students at a time. The System consists of 4 x DXR10 speakers with covers, MG124CR Mixer, speaker stands, and 8 Yamaha Canada distributed MXL microphones. This system will allow YouthSpeak to expand its reach in over 200 elementary and high schools across York Region north of Toronto.
YouthSpeak Founder and Team Coach, Una Wright had this to add:
“Our plan for the upcoming school year is to reach more than 25,000 students. The equipment you provided will allow us to reach this goal and to continue responding to a growing number of requests for our services each year.”
