Yamaha Webcasts Record Number of DisklavierTV™ Performances from 2013 Newport Music Festival
Yamaha Corporation of America presented 13 artist DisklavierTV™ performances from the 2013 Newport Music Festival—the largest number of performances of its kind undertaken to date at the famed summer classical music event held in Newport, Rhode Island, USA.
DisklavierTV, powered by Yamaha’s proprietary RemoteLive™ technology captures an artist’s performance on the Yamaha Disklavier reproducing piano onstage, then streams it live or from a web archive over the Internet simultaneously to remote Disklaviers across the country and in many countries around the world. The artist’s actual piano keystrokes are then faithfully recreated, note for note, in real time on each of the remote instruments, while the entire performance is seen and heard on adjacent monitors in perfect sync with the remote piano performances.
The Newport DisklavierTV production milestone comes at a time when Yamaha is aggressively ramping up its programming lineup for the fall, which can be viewed at http://4wrd.it/DISKLAVIERTV_NEWPORT.
"Yamaha’s DisklavierTV technology represents a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase Newport Music Festival performances worldwide in a very engaging way. It truly bridges the gap between the performer and the online audience," said Festival General Manager Mark Malkovich IV. "This year, we were able to capture and share more performances than ever before, and Disklavier owners will be able to enjoy them for years to come."
Artists whose performances were captured via DisklavierTV include Yamaha Piano Artists Vassily Primakov, Inna Faliks and Frederic Chiu, along with cellists Luigi Piovano and Sergey Antonov as well as many others who participated in classical, jazz, opera and children’s music programs.
Yamaha will offer DisklavierTV encores from the Newport Music Festival in the coming months. Several performances have already been added to the schedule, with more to follow:

"DisklavierTV is redefining how piano performance and education are shared and experienced," said Jim Levesque, Yamaha Disklavier marketing manager. "The legendary Newport Music Festival, which brings the latest and greatest music and artists to an adoring audience is the perfect venue for us to showcase this revolutionary platform."
Yamaha has been the Official Piano of the Newport Music Festival since 1987, which has resulted in a fruitful and enduring partnership marked by rich artistic collaboration and exciting debuts of significant new pianistic talent supported by the world’s finest musical instruments.
